Install the RRU Security Certificate

Microsoft Internet Explorer may in some cases not recognize the Royal Roads Security Certificate as being from a trusted authority resulting in the following warning page.

Although you can click “Continue to this website (not recommended)” and still use the site, we recommend that you install the Royal Roads Security Certificate.

To install the certificate for Windows Vista, please see our instructions here.

To install the certificate for Windows 2000 and XP:

Visit: http://mail.royalroads.ca/rootinstall.asp

You may get a warning that the site wants to run an add-on.  Click on the yellow information bar with the warning and allow the add-on to run. If prompted click “Run”.

Click “Yes” to allow this program to add the certificate.

Click “Yes” one more time to finalize the installation of the certificate.

Installing the RRU Security Certificate on Windows Vista:

  • Save the "RRU Root Certificate.cer" file to your computer
  • Navigate to the saved file and then double-click the file to run it
  • On the dialog box that opens, click the "Install Certificate..." button
  • Click "Next"
  • Click the "Place all certificates in the following store" option and then click the "Browse..." button
  • Click the "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" folder and then click "Ok"
  • Click "Next", then "Finish"
  • You should get a message informing you that the import was successful. Click "Ok"
  • Click "Ok" on the remaining dialog box to finish
